Do I have to be a resident of Tennessee to buy tickets?
You do NOT have to be a resident of TN to purchase or win any prize. If you win a hunt and are not a TN resident, you will have to have the appropriate non-resident hunting license for your hunt.

Who can buy a raffle ticket?
Anyone 18 years of age or older may purchase a ticket. TWRF employees, board members, their spouses, and children are excluded from participating. Providers of prizes (along with their immediate families) and certain event vendors, their immediate families, employees, agents, and subcontractors are also prohibited from purchasing tickets or winning any prize. Any offer to participate is void where prohibited by law.

How do I purchase tickets?
To purchase tickets, go to raffle.twrf.net. You can use Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.

How much does a raffle ticket cost?
Raffle tickets are $20 each, 3 for $50, or 10 for $100.

How many tickets can I buy?
You may purchase as many tickets as you wish.

When will I get my ticket(s)?
As soon as your ticket(s) are purchased, you will receive an electronic email confirming your purchase. You will receive your ticket(s) number on the confirmation page and email receipt. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please be sure to check your SPAM/JUNK Folders

How many raffle tickets will be sold?
There is no limit on the number of tickets for sale.

Is my raffle ticket tax-deductible?
No. The IRS’s position is that amounts paid for chances to win in raffles, lotteries, or similar drawings for valuable prizes are wagers, and consequently do not qualify as deductible charitable contributions.

What are my odds of winning?
The odds of winning a raffle prize depends on the number of tickets you purchase, and the total number of tickets sold.

When are the ticket purchase deadlines and drawings?
Ticket Purchase Deadline: Sunday August 16, 2020 at 11:59PM (CST).
Drawing: Monday, August 17, 2020.
Winners will be announced live at the Tennessee Fish & Wildlife Commission meeting on Aug 21, 2020. We will post a link to the live video feed on our website. Winners will be contacted with a phone call.

What are the hunt dates?
The 2020 Tennessee Elk Quota Rifle Season is October 10-16, 2020. The President’s Island Archery Hunt is December 3-6, 2020 (Dec. 3rd is scouting only). The fishing trip with Bill Dance must be coordinated based on Bill and the winner’s schedule. The 2021 Governor’s One Shot Turkey Hunt is scheduled for April 3, 2021. The waterfowl hunt with Final Flight Outfitters must be scheduled by the winner and is subject to outfitter availability.

When is the drawing held?
The electronic drawing will be held on Monday, August 17, 2020.

How will winners be notified?
The winners will also be notified by phone and/or email using the contact info provided when purchasing the tickets in order to make their prize package selection. The winners will be announced at the Tennessee Fish & Wildlife Commission meeting Aug 21 2020.

Can I be entered into just one prize drawing?
No. There is only one drawing. Every ticket sold will be eligible for all of the prizes. If you purchase more than one ticket, you are eligible to win more than one prize.

Can I win more than one prize?
Yes. If you purchase more than one ticket, you are eligible to win more than one prize. Each ticket is assigned a unique identification number and every remaining ticket number is eligible to be drawn after the previous winning number is drawn.

Do I have to be present at the drawing to win?
No. You do not need to be present to win.

Are previous year’s winners still eligible?
Yes. Each year is a different raffle with different prizes.

What if I don’t like, or I am unable to accept the prize I win? Is there a cash alternative?
There are no cash alternatives to the prizes won. If a winner does not accept the prize, another winner will be drawn from the remaining tickets.

How do I claim my prize(s)?
Once the winners have been drawn, TWRF staff will contact each winner beginning with the first name drawn in order to make the prize package selection. Please be sure to call us back ASAP if we reach your voicemail! All winners will be required to provide a W9 to collect their prize and TWRF will issue a 1099-Misc for Awards and Prizes. Prize winners are responsible for the payment of all local, state and federal taxes resulting from the income attributable to the receipt of any prizes and should consult their professional legal and accounting advisors regarding any taxes associated with their respective choices. If your prize package contains a firearm, you must submit a completed FFL form and successfully pass a firearms background check.

What are the values of each of the prize packages that will be listed on the 1099?

Can the winner sell any of the hunts?

Are any of the hunts transferable?
The elk tag, President’s Island bow hunt, and are for the 2020 season only. The Governor’s One-Shot turkey hunt is for the 2021 hunt only. If the winner is unable, or chooses not to participate in the hunts, he or she can choose to transfer the tags to an eligible hunter, one time. No monetary gain can be made in the transaction. Once a tag has been transferred, it cannot be transferred again.

Has the advertised Elk Tag been awarded in previous years?
Yes. Previously the NGO permit had been sold at auction. Last year (2019), the elk tag was raffled through TWRF. The 2019 elk tag raffle generated over $660,000.00.

What happens to the proceeds generated by the raffle?
Proceeds from the 2020 Tennessee Conservation Raffle benefit the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) wildlife habitat management and restoration efforts in Tennessee.

What about licenses/regulations for the hunting/fishing packages?
All prize winners must abide by the rules and regulations established by the TFWC and published in the 2020/2021 Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide and Fishing Guide. The winner must possess all applicable licenses and/or permits to participate.
